After more than 20 years living in Dubai, Warren Christie has witnessed the city's transformation into one of the world's most dynamic real estate markets. As a Senior Property Advisor at Pam Golding Properties UAE, he specialises in villa communities, off-plan opportunities and helping clients find properties that truly match their lifestyle and long-term goals.
In this interview, Warren shares his journey into real estate, what continues to excite him about Dubai, and why relationships remain at the heart of the way he works.
Can you tell us a little about your background and what led you into real estate?
I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, but I've called Dubai home for the past 20 years. Over that time, real estate gradually became a real passion of mine. I started by buying and selling property myself before moving into the industry professionally around seven years ago.
At Pam Golding Properties UAE, I specialise in villa communities and off-plan opportunities. I've always been drawn to the lifestyle side of real estate, which is why villa communities appeal to me so much. Being South African, I love a good braai and appreciate outdoor living, open spaces and the strong sense of community that many of Dubai's villa neighbourhoods offer.
I'm also drawn to off-plan property because I've seen so many people benefit from getting into the right project at the right time. Dubai is still growing at an incredible pace, and there are opportunities here today that simply won't look the same five or ten years from now.
After more than 20 years in Dubai, what do you still enjoy most about living here?
For me, it's the lifestyle and the sense of opportunity. Dubai never stands still. It's constantly evolving, and there's an energy here that's hard to explain unless you've experienced it yourself.
It's also an incredibly connected city. You can jump on a plane and be almost anywhere in the world within a few hours, which is something I never take for granted.
I have family in New Zealand and friends back in South Africa, so I still travel back regularly. They're wonderful places to visit, but after a couple of weeks, I'm always ready to come back to Dubai. There’s a pace to life here and a sense that things are always moving forward that I really enjoy.
Why is helping clients find the right lifestyle, not just the right property, so important to you?
Property is never just bricks and mortar. It's where life happens.
Choosing the right community is just as important as choosing the property itself. Schools, amenities, green spaces, commute times and lifestyle all play a huge role in everyday life.
Dubai has so many different communities, particularly in the villa market, so understanding what's important to each client is key. Some people want to be close to schools, others want more outdoor space, while some are focused on convenience and connectivity from living in Business Bay or the Marina.
My job is to understand what matters.
What part of the job do you find most rewarding?
I enjoy working with people who are excited about what's next, whether that's finding a new home, relocating to Dubai or making an investment. Being able to help them through that process is one of the things I enjoy most about real estate.
Buying or selling a property is often a significant milestone in anyone's life, so it's rewarding to be part of that journey and help people make a confident decision.
What attracted you to joining Pam Golding Properties UAE?
The brand was a big part of it.
Before moving into real estate, I worked in retail interior design. I was involved with brands such as Bloomingdale’s, Harvey Nichols and Hamleys toy store during Dubai's years of retail expansion. That experience taught me a lot about the importance of brand identity, trust and reputation.
Having grown up in South Africa, Pam Golding was always a familiar and respected name. When the opportunity to join the business in Dubai came up, it felt like a great fit. There aren't many brands with a 50-year history behind them, and that gives both clients and agents a real sense of confidence.
Before joining Pam Golding Properties, I worked closely with boutique developers, helping bring new projects to market. When the opportunity came up to join Pam Golding, it felt like the right combination of strong values, international reach and a trusted reputation.
For me, that's important. Whether you're a client or an agent, there's real confidence that comes from working with a brand that people have trusted for generations.
What do clients value most when working with you?
I believe in keeping things honest, straightforward and relationship-focused.
Dubai is a fast-moving market, and there is always a lot of noise out there, so people appreciate having someone they can trust to give them clear and balanced advice.
Whether someone is buying a family home or making an investment, my role is to help them understand their options, answer their questions and make informed decisions.
For me, real estate is built on relationships. If clients know you're looking after their best interests, the rest tends to follow naturally.
What's the one piece of advice you would give someone looking to buy property in Dubai for the first time?
Take the time to understand the different communities and don't rush into a decision.
Having someone who knows Dubai well can make a huge difference. Every area has its own character, lifestyle and appeal, so it's important to find a community that suits you and your family.
After more than 20 years living here, I've seen Dubai change enormously. What works for one person won't necessarily work for another, which is why understanding the different communities is such an important part of the process.
What makes Pam Golding Properties different from other real estate businesses you've worked with?
Having spent many years in the Dubai market, you quickly realise how important it is to have the right platform behind you.
There are thousands of brokers operating in Dubai, so having a recognised and respected brand makes a real difference. It gives both agents and clients confidence from the outset.
What stood out to me about Pam Golding is that the foundations are already there. The brand is established, the support structure is in place, and there is a long-term approach to building relationships and growing a business.
As an agent, that allows you to focus on what matters most: looking after clients and building your reputation over time.
